Character Creation

So, you want to join the game? You want to go into the world and make disciples?

First, you have to make your own.

To become a member of the game, the first thing you have to do is become a normal member of aimoo.com, the site that kindly hosts our gameboard free of advertising. It's free and easy, and they shouldn't spam you. Second, you need to send in a character creation page, which is copied below.

If you're becoming a character (an apostle), e-mail me at the address on the right-hand side of the screen with the following items of information:

Your (not your character, but you yourself) Full Name

How you heard about the game

Your character's name - please make it appropriate for the times. It can be Hebrew, Greek, Roman, or any nationality that would be likely to become a disciple of Jesus and be in Jerusalem. No Billy-Bob's, no George's, and no Mao Tse-Tung's. Please, also, use a name of your own creation. The Twelve and any other Biblical characters, like Paul or Barnabas, will be NPC's (Non-Player Characters) and you'll meet them in game. Also, please avoid literary characters unless their name would be common: I just don't see there being a rabbi named Gandalf.

Your character's gender - While their serving the church as disciples is biblical, females should be aware that they may face added opposition from more conservative men. Of course, you might like the challenge, and that could make it a lot more fun to play.

Your character's approx. age.

Your character's place of origin - Roman world or nearby, please.

Next of kin - father, mother, brothers, sisters, spouses, children.

Physical Description of your character - again, within reason. A centurion might have a large scar across one cheek, but a stonemason would not. Also, please remember that average height at the time, thanks to diet, was about or under 5'6". Other than that, be creative. God chooses all kinds of people.

Emotional Description - How your character thinks, how they view the world. Be creative. Again, God chooses those of all states of mind. Just look at Elijah, Jonah, Jeremiah...

A basic history of your character's life - the events from their birth leading up to Passover, 35AD, where the game will begin, who their parents are, how they came to be in Jerusalem. Also, remember to put down how your character became a christian - Did they know Jesus personally? Were they converted by the apostles?

Spiritual gifts - choose 4 from the following: Exhortation, Giving, Leadership, Mercy, Prophecy, Service, Teaching, Administration, Apostle, Discernment, Faith, Healing, Helps, Knowledge, Miracles, Tongues, Interpretation of Tongues, Wisdom, Evangelism, Pastor, Celibacy, Hospitality, Martyrdom, Missionary, Voluntary Poverty; For more information, see Character Help page. If you really, really want five, argue your case in a convincing manner, though that may or may not change my mind. If you want six, tough noogies. I'm going to teach you to rely on others .

Any other information about yourself or your character that you'd like me to know.

I should reply to your e-mail fairly quickly, within a few days. If there's something that I think doesn't fit with the game, I reserve the right to alter it; understand, I don't want to maul your character, but I do like keeping things believable. This should be rare, anyway. If we get the character squared away, the third and final thing to do to join the game would be to register on the site. There's a link that will allow you to do so in the forums. Click it and follow the instructions, and I'll get back to you soon to annoint you a disciple.
